FAQ

What is an NFC/RFID tag?

An NFC/RFID tag is a sticker associated with an NFC/RFID checkpoint. By NFC/RFID we are referring to the technology for transmitting nearby field data. Guarnic uses the latter in order to obtain the checkpoint location (meaning that of the NFC/RFID tag). For more information, see Managing Patrols.

Can I manage my clients independently from one another?

Yes you can. By creating your Guarnic account, you can manage all the clients that you need. Each client is independent from the others. You only need to select which one you want to work with, so that the respective information is displayed.  You can select the client in the menu bar on the top right corner. For instance, you can chose to manage the client named "Test":  cliente test Note: Before you have made any changes, always make sure that you have selected the correct client.

Can I manage my events?

Yes you can. Guarnic allows you to store a standard event record. The events allow each guard to notify the monitoring center for any suspicious activity or unexpected occurrences during his patrol. See Events In Guard App. The notification is sent out to the monitoring center immediately, can be viewed in the Events menu and is thus registered in the database. Also, this represents an alternative to the traditional event record method and allows you to collect a massive event history in the cloud that contains all registered events. In the Guarnic Guard App, the guard has the option to edit the events that have already been registered. Finally, in order to manage your events easier, you can add a category to each one of them. You can even add statuses and customise them by color (for instance, open, close, pending, high priority, etc.) In this way you can add and link tags in a fast and easy way. These all contribute to an effective event management.

What is a panic button?

The panic button is essentially an emergency alarm that is directly activated from the user cellphone device. (See Emergency Activación). By clicking on the panic button, the user will trigger an emergency notification that is immediately received by the guards and the Monitoring Center.

How many guards can use the same license?

Depending on the company that is using our service, Guarnic considers by default that at least 2 guards are using the same license.   Note: Your guards will not be able to use the same license simultaneously, since it is linked to an actual mobile device. Once the first guard has completed his shift, he has to hand over the cellphone to the guard that is taking the next shift.

What is a guard license and how can I use it?

It is the activation of the Guarnic service for a single cellphone device, that is being used by the guard during his shift. The license allows, from the monitoring center, to assign tasks, routes and patrols, as well as to control in real time the performance of the guard by receiving notifications in case any non compliances occurs. Also it facilitates the constant and effective communication between the guard and the monitoring center by allowing the creation of events

Can I use use the platform with my own brand?

Yes you can. We are offering the Branding Service or White Label, which allows you to use our platform with your own company logo. In this way, we are giving you the opportunity to be a reseller of our solution. For more information, see White Label.

Where can I purchase RFC/RFID tags?

Guarnic does not charge for tag configuration and does not allow for tag purchasing. Our clients are free to purchase and configure all the necessary tags in 2 simple steps. By clearing this up, the easier and cheaper way to purchase them is online through China wholesale suppliers.

What type of cellphone device do I need?

The guard cellphones need to have the following characteristics:
  • Android Operational System of 3.0 or higher
  • GPS
  • NFC (Only if you need to use the the RFID patrols)
The devices that support the panic button user app are the following:
  • iPhone iOS 7 or higher.
  • Android 2.2 or higher.
  • Blackberry lower than OS10. The system does not support Blackberry higher than OS10, since the brand is migrating its products to Android .

Does the GPS function indoors as well?

The GPS does not function indoors. In any case, you can still follow the patrol up to the point where the GPS signal is lost. The system generates an automatic notification indicating that the GPS cannot determine the exact location. When you have patrols that include closed spaces like buildings, cellars or subsoils, it is necessary to use the RFID/NFC checkpoints.

What is the GPS accuracy?

Very accurate. Guarnic zeros in with a precision between 5 and15 meters. The product is designed in a way that it does not publish any imprecise locations. If it is not possible to register the position with sufficient accuracy, a real time alert will be generated, indicating that the cellphone is not able to obtain an acceptable position, as opposed to sending a position that is not accurate. Thus, every position report includes for each point the accuracy in meters, making it clear what the margin of error is.

Do the guard devices need to be online while using the service?

It depends on the specific usage. In any case, the guards need an internet location in the moment at which they login. Once logged in, they can work a 100% offline. In order to demonstrate this, we are showing you 2 examples. In the first one, the guard has a WiFi connection only in the moment of login and the second one is online throughout his entire round.
  • Example 1: Cellphone device without a 3G chip, but with a WiFi connection: Step 1: By being connected to a WiFi network, the person on duty can login by entering his username and password. Step 2: In a matter of seconds, he receives all the tasks and patrols that he needs to complete. Step 3: The person continues to complete his tasks offline for the rest of his shift. All the patrols that he covers, his movement, events and any other information generated will remain stored on the same device. Step 4: Finally, when he reconnects to the WiFi network, the system will automatically download all the information collected during that shift. The advantage is that there is no connectivity cost. The disadvantage is that the information is not registered in real time.
  • Example 2: Cellphone device with a 3G chip and a WiFi connection. Step 1: The person logs in from any location. Step 2: While completing his tasks, all the information is being refreshed in real time. Hence, he can receive tasks on his device. The advantage is that all the information is being registered in real time. The disadvantage is that in most cases, a sim card chip is required to have a connection.
